Financial Advisor and Ethics Authority (FASEA)
The SMSF Association is aware of our members’ concerns regarding the Financial Advisor Standards and Ethics Authority’s (FASEA) proposed education guidance for existing advisers. We believe FASEA has adopted a narrow approach to the legislation which requires all advisers to be of a degree standard.
Over the next six months the Association will be consulting with members and engaging with FASEA in order to ensure that FASEA adopts a flexible approach to transitioning existing advisers to the new standards. We do not think highly experienced advisers who have a bachelor degree, extensive knowledge and other relevant accreditations should be disregarded from meeting the prescribed degree standard.
Led by Peter Hogan, Head of Education and Technical with the SMSF Association, please join us and share your views on these new proposed standards.
The Association wants to collect member feedback which will inform our discussions with, and submission to, FASEA. Here is your opportunity to contribute directly to the discussion around new and existing adviser requirements.
