Michael is superannuation, taxation and financial services lawyer with over 25 years’ experience gained both in private practice and in various in house positions.
He has experience of the financial services industry as legal adviser to financial product issuers, financial product intermediaries and financial product consumers.
Michael’s practice areas include superannuation, especially self managed superannuation funds, superannuation splitting, superannuation investment structures, financial services, managed investment schemes and land tax.
Michael’s industry qualifications include the Graduate Diploma of Securities and Applied Investments as well as being a Certified Tax Adviser and SPAA Specialist Adviser.
Belinda is a director of Super Sphere Pty. Ltd., a specialist self managed superannuation company, where she is responsible for providing audit, consulting and training services in relation to self managed super funds.
Belinda established Super Sphere in 2003 to specialise in SMSF auditing and audit related services, and is responsible for auditing around 1,000 funds per year. This is in addition to providing an SMSF Audit Toolkit to other auditing professionals and undertaking numerous training engagements each year. Belinda is a member of the CAANZ, and holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting). Belinda is also a specialist member of the SMSF Association, co-chairperson of their audit discussion group, and a member of the SMSF Association education and conference committees.
Within the financial services industry, people look to Aaron to learn more about self-managed super. Highly admired amongst his peers, Aaron’s insights into technical issues and the industry more broadly are helping to shape the future of the SMSF profession. It is with this insight that Aaron has been sort out to participate in Government reviews, including the Super System Review and continues as an active participate for the SMSF segment of the ‘Reinventing the ATO’ program. Aaron regularly shapes conversation on SMSFs within the financial services media and created the Future of SMSF report, sharing key insights into the future direction of the SMSF profession. As a CPA and SMSF Specialist Advisor with nearly 20 years’ experience, Aaron in his role as Managing Director of The SMSF Academy, shares this passion and knowledge to help professionals to build a better SMSF business.
Bryce is recognised as one of Australia’s leading SMSF lawyers. He has worked predominantly in the fields of tax and superannuation over the past 15 years.
He is a senior fellow at the University of Melbourne, co-lecturing the subject ‘Taxation of Superannuation’ as part of Melbourne Law School’s masters program. He is the author of the book Complete Guide to SMSFs: Planning for Loss of Capacity and Death.
Bryce also is a regular seminar presenter on tax and SMSF topics, presenting for major professional bodies including the SMSF Association, The Tax Institute, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, and CPA Australia.
Bryce is on the editorial panel of LexisNexis’ Australian Superannuation Law Bulletin. Bryce is a Specialist SMSF Advisor as well as being a Chartered Tax Adviser.
Brett is a Director of an accounting firm, Rogerson Kenny Business Accountants.
He graduated from Monash University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Economics degree, majoring in Accounting and commenced work with a firm of Melbourne based Chartered Accountants, Touche Ross & Co, that merged to become part of the "Big 4" accounting firm KPMG.
In his time at Touche Ross he worked in their Melbourne and Papua New Guinea offices and later also worked in London. Brett joined one of the antecedent firms of Rogerson Kenny in 1984, and was admitted to partnership of the current firm in 1992.
His role at Rogerson Kenny is providing taxation services to the firm's business and SMSF clients. His firm acts for over 800 clients and includes those in manufacturing, wholesale, retail and services based both locally and overseas. His firm's services include SMSF taxation advice, business taxation and accounting, forecasting, benchmarking and general business consultancy.
Brett is an SMSF Specialist Advisor™, a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, a Tax Agent, a CPA and is a National Director of the SMSF Association Ltd.
Outside office hours Brett interests include learning to play the guitar (badly) with his daughter, watching his son play football as well supporting his wife with her basketball obsession. He is an accredited professional basketball photographer and spends as much time as possible photographing landscapes and researching his very sordid family history.
