Session 1: Peter Burgess | SMSF Technical & Advocacy Update
The SMSF sector continues to navigate significant legislative and regulatory change. Peter will provide an update on key technical and regulatory developments, including Division 296 regulations, recent LRBA amendments and the Government’s newly announced SMSF consumer protection measures. He’ll also cover the Association’s current advocacy priorities.

Session 2: Jemma Sanderson & Lindzee-Kate Tagliaferri | Property In SMSFS – What You Need to Know in A Changing Landscape
Property investment in SMSFs continues to face changing rules, increased scrutiny and new considerations. This session will cover:

• Changes to SMSF property investment via an LRBA since 10 August
• The definition and application of Business Real Property
• Recent Federal Budget measures and their potential impact on SMSF property
• Valuations and Division 296 cost base adjustments
• Increased scrutiny of related-party property transactions
• The interaction between superannuation provisions and WA Transfer Duty, including contributions, borrowing, death benefits and divorce

Jemma and Lindzee will provide practical insights into the current property landscape to help advisers navigate these issues, guide clients and meet their compliance obligations.
