Session 1: Peter Burgess | SMSF Technical & Advocacy Update
Peter will cover key technical and regulatory developments affecting the SMSF sector, including Division 296 regulations, recent LRBA amendments and the Government’s newly announced SMSF consumer protection measures. He’ll also provide an update on the Association’s advocacy priorities.

Session 2: Annika Lockwood & Naomi Kewley | Compliance Hot Spots 2026 – What SMSF Practitioners Need to Know
Explore the key SMSF compliance hot spots attracting regulator and auditor scrutiny in 2026, including arm’s length dealings, asset valuations, the new LRBA landscape and audit evidence requirements. Annika and Naomi will provide practical steps to strengthen compliance and manage key areas of risk.

Session 3: Melanie Dunn | ECPI Strategies and Div296 Actuarial Certificates
This practical session will cover when an actuarial certificate is required for ECPI, how to maximise ECPI, and the implications of choosing segregated or unsegregated methods for clients’ tax outcomes.

Melanie will also explore the emerging Division 296 requirements, including new actuarial certificate requirements from FY27, when a certificate is required and how to calculate a member’s attributable Division 296 earnings for the ATO.
