SMSF Association recognises outstanding members at 2026 National Conference

The SMSF Association has recognised outstanding members at its 2026 SMSF National Conference, celebrating excellence in SMSF expertise and significant contributions to the SMSF sector.

The 2026 CEO Award was presented to David Saul, while Bryce Figot received the prestigious Chair Award.

High-achieving members in the Association’s accreditation programs were also celebrated. Ben Harrison was the top achiever for the SMSF Specialist Advisor accreditation course for 2025, while Miriam Kewley was top achiever for the SMSF Specialist Auditor accreditation course for 2025.

CEO Peter Burgess said the awards were richly deserved.

“Our SMSF Specialist Advisor and SMSF Specialist Auditor designations are highly regarded across the industry, not only as a measure of technical knowledge but also as evidence of deep SMSF expertise and the ability to apply that knowledge in practice,” Mr Burgess said.

“Members who undertake these comprehensive programs understand that earning these designations requires a strong commitment to ongoing professional development, technical excellence and the highest standards of SMSF practice.”

Mr Burgess said the CEO Award recognises a member who has made a significant contribution to fostering the SMSF community while embodying the values of the Association.

“David Saul plays a key leadership role as Chair of the Association’s Professional Standards Committee and is a highly respected and active contributor to the NSW local community.

Association Chair Scott Hay-Bartlem praised Bryce Figot for his influence on the sector.

“Bryce is renowned for his deep technical expertise and his ability to distil complex legal concepts into clear, practical guidance for practitioners. He is widely respected for his integrity, precision, and unwavering commitment to improving best practice within the SMSF profession,” Mr Hay-Bartlem said.

Each year, at the annual SMSF Association National Conference, the Association  celebrates members who have demonstrated excellence in SMSF expertise and made a significant contribution to the Association and the sector more broadly.
