SMSF specialists thirsty for knowledge sign up for Tech Day

The SMSF Association Technical Day, being held virtually on 29 July, has attracted more than 700 SMSF specialists and other interested participants who are looking for guidance on the many changes inflicted on their industry by the COVID-19 pandemic.

SMSF Association CEO John Maroney says: “We were delving a little into the unknown when we decided to hold our annual Technical Day virtually, not really knowing its appeal to our specialist members.

“Our thinking was that in these extraordinary times, and with the measures that have been implemented in superannuation as a consequence, specialist members would be interested in getting the latest insights into the COVID-19 induced changes.

“But you can never be quite sure, especially when you consider our members are having to service clients who are facing the biggest economic upheaval since the Great Depression.

“So, to get more than 700 participants sign up for the virtual Technical Day is not only extremely encouraging for our Association but also a recognition of the importance they place on staying abreast of the latest developments in the SMSF sector.”

The Association has pulled out all stops this year to ensure the Technical Day will be bigger and better than ever before.

Having a concurrent stream means more sessions will be delivered, there is an impressive list of speakers, and a Thought Leadership session, which will look at future trends in the superannuation system post COVID-19, has been included for the first time.
