2022-2023 Federal Budget Update – A quiet night for SMSFs

The 2022-2023 Federal Budget has been handed down this evening by Treasurer Josh Frydenberg.

The Association’s Policy Manager, Tracey Scotchbrook, is in Canberra and attended the key stakeholder lock-up to provide a timely summary of the Budget as it relates to the SMSF and superannuation sectors.

The SMSF Association Budget summary highlights the key and relevant changes including:

  • Extension of the temporary reduction in superannuation minimum draw down rates;
  • Employee Share Schemes – expanding access and further reducing red tape;
  • The Government’s Pre-Budget announcement on non arm’s length expenditure;
  • Allowing commutation of certain income streams; and
  • Digitalising trust income reporting and processing.
