Contributions: A smorgasbord of opportunity (and complexity)

Technical Summit 2023

With the contribution rules relaxed new opportunities are available for members to supercharge their retirement savings provided they understand the rules to avoid costly mistakes.  This is an opportunity to revisit old age strategies to determine if they still work plus be able to identify new strategies that have emerged from the changes. This workshop will also address how the $3m cap has the potential to impact on these strategies in the future.

Through the use of case studies, some of the key contribution strategies that will be explored include:

  • The recontribution strategy and whether it always works and whether Part IVA could apply
  • Spouse equalisation strategies as well as downsizer contributions and how they interact with other contribution caps and Total Super Balance
  • How to maximise concessional contributions and non-concessional contributions
