- Technically Speaking
- Contributions, Setup and management
The SMSF Association’s Policy team has written this issue of Technically Speaking on rebalancing superannuation accounts between spouses. Due to the recent introduction of the transfer balance cap and the lack of opportunity for couples to adjust for its introduction, most couples have balances which are heavily weighted to one member.
This paper will cover:
- The benefits of rebalancing, including the significant monetary benefit it can have over a long time period.
- The strategies and measures that can be utilised to even up balances and how they are implemented.
- Certain considerations which may affect the decision to rebalance.
