It’s time to encourage your clients to apply for their director ID and beat the rush. All existing directors of a corporate SMSF trustee must apply for a director ID by 30 November 2022.
The SMSF Association recently confirmed with the ATO that this obligation to obtain a director ID also applies to any client who was a director on or before 31 October 2021, even if they have since resigned from all directorship roles and have no intention to ever be appointed in the role of director of any Australian or foreign company.
With just over two months to go before the 30 November 2022 deadline, now is the time to be contacting your SMSF clients with a corporate trustee about the need to obtain a director ID.
Our latest white label document is aimed to help with enquiries from clients and details:
- The fastest way to obtain a director ID online;
- What SMSF trustees should do if they are having difficulties with the online process;
- The documentation that trustees should have ready to help verify their identity and expedite the application process.
