Summary

I love coming up with solutions to complex superannuation and estate problems. I am one of the few SMSF Association Accredited Specialist Advisors who is a lawyer in the Canberra region. My particular passion is reviewing the structure of SMSFs and making sure that the succession plan for the SMSF has been properly considered. I also have experience in Family Law which makes me uniquely placed to advise other professionals, trustees, members and non-members of funds on how superannuation interacts with the Family Law Act. I am often called on to give expert advice, including as an expert witness in the Family Law courts. I am also trained in collaborative law and get great satisfaction in helping clients navigate the complex interaction between the Family Law Act and Superannuation laws to ensure that their funds remain compliant but also get the best outcome for everyone. I am an active member of the SMSF Association and am the current Chair of the SMSF Association Local Community for the ACT. As a director of a boutique law practice I an evangelical when it comes to the benefits of getting good quality advice. I have seen the benefits that can accrue when clients receive good advice and the disasters that need to be mopped up when they don't. This is why it is my practice to take the time to break the law down into as plain english as much as possible so it is accessible and understood by my clients. Outside of work or the SMSF world I am the current Chairperson on the Board of Management of Advocacy for Inclusion which is an ACT charity with the goal of supporting people with disabilities in asserting their rights and providing disability awareness and inclusion training for the wider community. I am also a husband and father to three children, three dogs, a cat, five chickens and a python so I tend to be kept pretty busy.
